Dhaka: Following the unbearable loss to the Indian Cricket Team in the Asia Cup finals, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has taken bold steps, even at the cost of the economy, to ensure that her team stays in high spirits.
Even though the home team was completely outclassed by the Indians in all 4 departments, batting, bowling, fielding and fan trolling, the Asia Cup did have some positive takeaways for the Bangladeshis.
To compensate for the same and to ensure that the team stays motivated before the T-20 World Cup, PM Hasina has announced a cash prize of INR 200 for the team along with one banana and two strawberries for each player. When approached by our THB reporter, PM Hasina said “It is important to keep the morale of the team high keeping the upcoming World Cup in mind. Even though we have had a bad year as an economy, I have requested the World Bank to come forward and sponsor this cash prize and they have been very kind”
The Bangladesh players seemed highly elated and motivated after this announcement and when asked for a comment, their captain Masrafe Mortaza said “We were not sure how to go back home after the loss, it was very demotivating and also because state transport buses were not plying and we did not bring our own rickshaws due to parking issues outside the stadium. But this gesture by our PM has been a great source of motivation for the boys”
Even though the team fought hard, sources are not ruling out the chance of Bangladeshi players deliberately losing the match to get the cash prize and fruits.
